Guatemala was really good and really hard. It was one of those seasons that held so much joy and also some weight at the same time. There were so many sweet moments with new friends, but also some hard goodbyes. For the first time in 9 months we had cold weather, and that felt like such a gift. We thrifted way too many warm clothes, drank lots of coffee, ate really good food, and finally had beds again. We spent time in prayer houses, went out to evangelize, had space to rest, and somehow made it to what felt like every coffee shop in Antigua and Parramos. We also did some pretty crazy things, like hiking Acatenango and Fuego, which was one of the most physically challenging things I’ve ever done but also one of the coolest. Being that close to an active erupting volcano is something I’ll never forget.

One of the hardest parts of this season was saying goodbye to two of my friends from our squad. They felt the Lord leading them home, and I’m so proud of them for listening and being obedient to that, but it didn’t make it any easier. After doing life together for the last 7 months, it was really sad to see them go. At the same time, I know it’s not really goodbye; it’s just “see you later.” I’m so grateful for the time we had, and I miss you very much! But, I think about how many hugs they are getting from home and can't imagine how good it is to see friends and family from home!

PVT (Parent Vision Trip) was such a highlight of this month. Getting to see my mom and dad after 7 months apart was something I can’t fully put into words. It was so special to show them what life has looked like for me and let them meet the people I’ve come to love so much. That week was full in the best way: lots of coffee, good food, shopping, ministry, playing games with the kids, cleaning dishes, and exploring Antigua together. It felt a little weird at first having that much time with them again, but in the best way. I didn’t realize how much I needed it until it was happening, and it’s a week I’ll carry with me for a long time.

After that, we spent a week at Lake Atitlán for debrief, which was such needed time to slow down, process everything from the last couple of countries, and just rest. And now we’re here realizing we only have 9 weeks left of the race, which feels crazy to say. It’s wild how fast it’s gone and how much life has been lived in such a short time. Guatemala was everything we needed; it was intentional, full of laughter, and just really, really special. I know I’ll be back!!
