I love Guatemala, and I can’t believe we only have one week of ministry left here. It’s gone by so fast.
We have two main ministries, and both have been such a gift in different ways. The first is called Reindom. It’s basically an after-school program for kids ranging from little ones all the way up to high schoolers. Every ministry morning starts with prayer room. We worship, pray, and just sit with Jesus before the day begins. It’s honestly one of the most Spirit-led spaces I’ve experienced on the Race. There’s a deep sense of peace and expectation every time we gather. On Tuesdays, we help with a feeding program, and Fridays are packed with English, Bible lessons, and soccer. Saturdays are one of my favorite days because we do prayer room with the kids, almost like a Sunday school setting. Watching them worship and participate in prayer has been really special. On Wednesdays, we serve at a Carepoint in Parramos, about five minutes from our base. A CarePoint is a feeding program connected to a local church. In the mornings, we cook for around 20–25 kids. We’ve made everything from pancakes to Chapin, which is a traditional Guatemalan breakfast with eggs, beans, and plantains (which I now love). There’s something simple and meaningful about preparing food together and sharing it. In the afternoons, we help however we can, such as painting, building, cleaning, and doing house visits. The house visits have stood out to me. Sitting in someone’s home, hearing their story, and praying with them reminds me that ministry isn’t always big or dramatic. Sometimes it’s just being present. Thursdays are activation days with Adventures in Missions staff. We start with worship and teaching, then go out into town to evangelize. Getting to worship alongside believers who live here and serve here has been powerful. It’s a reminder that the Church is so much bigger than what I’m used to.
I’ve loved ministry in Guatemala. It feels intentional and full of joy. I’m grateful for this season and want to finish it well. PVT (Parent Vision Trip) is next weekend, and I’m really looking forward to spending time with my parents and, yes, maybe getting a few things from home too. Please be praying for my squad and me as we head into our last week to stay present and faithful to what the Lord has in front of us. Guatemala has been such a gift.
